1st CVS trip of the year

I was really excited to have received my $50 CVS gift card (earned from my credit card rewards program) last week. Now the challenge is seeing how long it will last. I spent a little bit last week, but since I have decided to start fresh for the new year, my starting balance was actually $47.60. Although my CVS trip for tonight didn't go exactly as planned, I still ended up getting some things I actually needed. I also ended up getting a $4 off a $20 purchase CRT coupon from the CVS coupon machine. My ringer was really nice too and even let me leave my bags from my 1st transaction up front while I went back to get my items for the 2nd transaction. Here is the breakdown of my transactions:

Transaction 1:
Special K bars 3/10, -1MC, receive 4 ECB
Starbucks 6.99,-1MC, receive 1ECB
Chex mix 2/3 (got 3 for 1.49 ea), -.50MC, -.50MC
Used 4 off 20 email coupon & 8.50ECB
Total oop (including tax)=6.35

Transaction 2:
Loreal hair dye 2/12 - 2MC, 2MC
Loreal face wash 6*3=18 -2MC, -3(off 2)MC, receive 10ECB with $30 Loreal purchase
Used 4 off 20 CRT & 5ECB
Total oop=14.47

I realize now that I probably should have done the 2nd transaction first, except the 1st one hadn't gone as planned. I searched and searched for the Planters bars which were also on sale 3 for $10, receive 4ECB, but they were no where to be found, so I got the coffee and Chex Mix, which are things I would buy anyway.

Happy New Year!

As part of my New Year's resolution to live more frugally, I have decided to start writing a blog. I've looked at other blogs to find deals at stores like CVS, Walgreens, Target, etc. and thought I would start doing the same. My goal is to limit my spending and see how much I can save this year.
